Question Title What is Fios Internet?
What is Fios Internet?

Introducing FiOS Internet Service. It's the next generation in broadband.

Verizon FiOS (FYE'-ose) is the new suite of fiber-optic services over FTTP, an advanced fiber-optic technology that can be used to connect a home or business directly to Verizon's network. Fiber-optic systems use strands of glass fiber and laser-generated pulses of light to transmit voice, data and video signals at speeds and capacities far exceeding today's systems. This new network will have greater reliability and lower maintenance costs. By deploying fiber to homes and businesses around the country, Verizon is reinventing its wireline business.

FiOS leapfrogs competitors. It's the most powerful connection currently offered in the US.

FiOS service consists of three consumer broadband speeds: up to 15 Mbps downstream and up to 5 Mbps upstream (15 Mbps/5 Mbps), 30 Mbps/5 Mbps and 50 Mbps/5 Mbps. Note: This will most likely change before the ink dries here. They have been increasing the speeds like crazy!! When I first got mine it was 5/2 now it is up to 20/5 at the same price! insane!! But for new users price went up $7.00/mo last I checked. But the speeds more than Doubled
Update: Speeds for small businesses have been increased as follows: 15/2 to 20/5, 5/5 to 35/10 and 30/5 to 50/10.

Verizon FiOS enables customers to do more with the Internet than ever before, such as download purchased digital movies in a flash, play online games at lightning speeds, share large photo files, and video chat with friends and family. Work-at-home customers will enjoy speeds comparable to their office environment.

With FiOS, Verizon offers superior broadband speeds at very competitive prices along with Verizon's existing wireline and wireless, local and long-distance telephony services and, eventually, new video services.

Pricing for FiOS: Note: Check with verizon for current rates!
